Bakersfield Fatal Two-Vehicle Collision on Taft Highway Kills One

1 Dead in Violent Two-Vehicle Collision on Taft Hwy at Buena Vista Rd
BAKERSFIELD, CA (January 31, 2025) – A two-vehicle crash on Taft Highway claimed one life Friday afternoon, January 31, at the intersection of Buena Vista Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the collision occurred when a Nissan van traveling southbound on Buena Vista Road failed to stop at a stop sign and entered the intersection. A westbound Jeep on Taft Highway was unable to avoid the van, resulting in a violent impact.
Both Drivers Were Transported To Kern Medical Hospital
Emergency responders transported both drivers to Kern Medical Hospital. Despite life-saving efforts, the Nissan driver succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital. Authorities have yet to release their identity, pending notification of next of kin.
The Jeep’s driver sustained only minor injuries.
Investigators have not determined whether drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash. The CHP continues to examine the circumstances surrounding the fatal accident.
