Baby seriously injured in Santa Ana Crash

A late morning traffic accident on Tuesday, November 15, 2011, injured five people in Santa Ana at First Street and Euclid, according to police as reported in The Orange County Register. Among the victims was a 2-month-old baby.
Around 11:50 a.m., a Nissan Altima with two women and two children aboard and a Diamond Environmental Services Truck crashed, said a Santa Ana police officer. At the time of the crash, the Altima had been heading west on First Street and the truck had been heading south on Euclid Street.
Officer Bertagna stated in the news story that one of the drivers ran a red light, but investigators are trying to determine who that was. They are examining red-light camera videos.
Rescuers took two women to the hospital. Details of their injuries are not known. The baby girl suffered serious injuries and was also taken to the hospital. Rescuers treated a 2-year-old boy at the scene of the collision.
The truck’s driver may have suffered broken ribs. He was also transported to the hospital for medical attention. According to Officer Bertagna, all involved are expected to recover.
