AZUSA, CA (August 7, 2018) – A car hit and injured an elderly bicyclist in Azusa Thursday evening on South Citrus Avenue. The accident occurred roughly at 5:00 p.m.
According to reports, the bicyclist was a man 83 years old. He had been riding on the sidewalk and fell off his bike and onto the road of Citrus Avenue in the 800 block, close to Laxford Road.
A car that was traveling on the road hit the man. From the reports, it is not clear if the car ran over the man, or hit him while the driver was heading into a driveway.
Reports say that the man’s injuries included a leg that was broken, and other injuries that were described as not life threatening.
Responders took the injured man to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center for treatment of injuries that were characterized as moderate.
No arrests were made, and neither alcohol nor drugs appeared to be involved.
Investigators are continuing their search into the accident.
