Suspect Stealing Vehicle from Residence on Del Rio Road in Atascadero Strikes Car, Then Tree
ATASCADERO, CA (October 2, 2019) – On Tuesday afternoon, a suspect who stole a vehicle from a resident’s home in Atascadero crashed into another vehicle and then a tree. The October 1 incident occurred on Del Rio Road in the 8400 block.
The time was roughly 1:55 p.m., according to the Atascadero Police Department.
Reports say the owner of the vehicle told police that a person had been trying to steal their vehicle from their residence’s driveway. The vehicle owner is reported to have confronted the suspect, according to police.
The suspect fled the scene in the resident’s vehicle. The suspect driver crashed into a vehicle that was parked on Del Rio Road, and attempted to continue away. The suspect then hit a tree, and the vehicle was diasabled.
The vehicle’s owner and people who witnessed the incident confronted the suspect driver. Reports say the suspect held a gun on the people, and then left in another vehicle that was waiting nearby.
Investigators are looking for the suspect, who has not been described in reports. They are collecting details and evidence regarding the incident.
