Motorcyclist Injured After Striking Debris from Earlier Crash in Artesia on 91 Freeway

ARTESIA, CA (June 5, 2019) – A motorcyclist was injured after he ran into debris from an earlier accident. The June 6 incident occurred early in the morning on Wednesday on the 91 Freeway in Artesia.

The time was roughly a little after 2:00 a.m., according to Sergeant Soriano who is with the California Highway Patrol.

Reports say a vehicle, which has not been described, had been traveling east on the 91 Freeway. In an area close to Pioneer Boulevard, the car went off the road and smashed into a tree. After impact, the car erupted in flames.

Respondents arrived and found the car was completely on fire. According to Soriano, they could not rescue the driver who was trapped in the wreckage. The driver has not been identified, including the person’s name, age, gender, and city of residence. Reports say the accident was a solo vehicle crash. No one else was reported to have been in the car.

Not long after, a person who had been riding a motorcycle crashed after striking debris from the earlier accident. Respondents transported the rider to a hospital. The injuries the rider suffered have not been reported, and his current condition is not known. His name, age, and city of residence have not been reported.

Investigators are working through the information to understand why the crashes happened.
