Armored Truck Teeters on Bridge’s Edge

Los Angeles, CA – An armored truck teeters over a busy freeway’s bridge Friday afternoon. The driver is injured and the freeway is closed for several hours.

Six freeway lanes are closed surrounding the southbound 5 freeway connector to the 10 freeway interchange bridge at around 4:00 p.m. rush hour traffic. An armored truck which transports money had crashed through one of the concrete and steel guard rails and was left teetering on the edge. The front part of the hood of the truck was torn off and the engine was left exposed. Fluid from the engine dripped onto the vehicles passing under the bridge.
The driver of the armored truck, a 56-year old from Downey swerved to avoid a motorist on the transition road when he lost control of the truck before crashing into the wall. The driver was moderately injured. A guard, the only other person in the vehicle was unscathed. He was in the back of the vehicle protecting the cargo
The highway, which sees heavy traffic moving through the Los Angeles area, was re-opened after four hours. No one else was injured and the truck was removed from the edge of the bridge.
