Semi Truck Crashes Through Center Divider on 91 Freeway in Anaheim
ANAHEIM, CA (January 17, 2019) – A semi truck crashed in the morning on Wednesday in Anaheim, leading to the closure of multiple lanes on the 91 Freeway. The January 16 accident occurred close to the offramp for Lakeview Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The time was roughly 10:36 a.m.
According to people who witnessed the accident, a big rig that had been traveling east crashed into the center divider and went through to the freeway’s westbound side. California Highway Patrol said the semi truck had crossed over two lanes of freeway traffic and struck a vehicle, described as a 2005 Ford.
Both of the vehicles involved in the accident traveled to the left and smashed into the freeway’s center divider. The Ford came to a stop in the express lanes on the eastbound side of the freeway, and the semi truck smashed through the divider and ended up in the freeway’s lanes that travel westbound. Two other vehicles that had been on the freeway, traveling in the westbound lanes, were struck by debris from the collision. The vehicles were described as a 2017 Ford and a 2013 Toyota.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the only person hurt in the accident was the person who had been driving the 2005 Ford. Responders took him to Placentia-Linda Hospital. The man’s name, age, and city of residence have not been reported, nor the types of injuries he suffered.
The crash led to closure of a number of lanes of the freeway in both directions, and diesel fuel—roughly 80 gallons—had spilled on the roadway.
The person who had been driving the truck has not been identified, including the person’s name, age, and city of residence. Investigators are examining the details, information, and evidence regarding the crash.
