Two Men Killed in Anaheim Crash Identified; One Man Still Unknown
ANAHEIM, CA (May 6, 2021) – Alexander Smiller and Jacob Rolon were identified by the Orange County Sheriff’s Department as two of the three victims who were killed in a crash on Tuesday in Anaheim. A third person–who has not yet been identified–also died in the May 4 incident.
The crash occurred close to where Orange Avenue and Brookhurst Street intersect.
The time was roughly 2:50 a.m., according to authorities.
A vehicle, described as a Kia SUV, and another vehicle, described as a Mercedes-Benz, collided. Responders arrived and worked to extricate the victims from the Kia.
The three people who had been traveling in the Kia died at the crash site, Anaheim Police said.
Smiller was a resident of Los Angeles, 63 years old.
Rolon was a resident of La Mirada, 32 years old.
The third man who died has not yet been identified in reports.
The Mercedes-Benz was on fire and was vacant when responders came to the scene. Authorities notified hospitals in the area in an effort to locate the suspect hit-and-run driver.
According to Shane Carringer, who is a sergeant with the police department, authorities found two people they believe had been the driver of the Mercedes, and a person who had been a passenger in the vehicle.
Both women suffered injuries that were described as serious. According to reports, a Good Samaritan took the two injured women to the hospital. Carringer said investigators are looking at the crash as a hit-and-run until they understand why the women left the crash site.
A person who was at the scene said bystanders helped the women exit the vehicle as it burst into flames, and that the women appeared disoriented. A witness was reported to have said another person put them into a car and took them to a hospital.
Investigators are working to understand the crash. They are continuing to collect details and information.
