Crash Kills Two People on La Palma Avenue in Anaheim; DUI Suspected
ANAHEIM, CA (May 26, 2020) – Late at night on Saturday, a crash in Anaheim killed two people. The May 23 incident occurred on La Palma Avenue close to where Olive Street intersects.
The time was roughly 8:20 p.m., Anaheim Police said.
Reports say two men had been traveling on La Palma Avenue when a vehicle–described as a Mazda CX9 minivan–struck their vehicle. The impact from the collision threw one of the men from the vehicle they had been in, which has not been described.
The other man remained in the vehicle. Both died at the incident site. The identities of the victims, including their names, ages, and cities of residence, have not been reported.
A third person who had been in the vehicle suffered injuries that were described as critical, Shane Carringer said. Carringer is a sergeant with Anaheim Police.
The identity of the victim has not been reported. Responders transported him to UC Irvine Medical Center for treatment.
The person who had been driving the minivan suffered injuries that were described as minor, according to reports. His identity has not been reported. He was also taken to the hospital.
According to reports, investigators suspect the driver of the minivan was driving under the influence (DUI) when the crash occurred. Investigators think an earlier collision, which occurred where Harbor Boulevard and La Palm intersect, also involved the minivan.
