San Fernando Valley – Driver in 4Runner crashes into a stopped car, killing a man and severely injuring two women.
Alleged Drunk Driver Collides with Stopped Car, Killing 1 Man and Badly Injuring 2 Women
A driver (suspected to be drunk) hit a stopped car from behind, killing a 24-year old man and badly injuring two women on Sunday, July 28 in the San Fernando Valley.
The fatality was vaguely described by officials as a 24-year-old Chino resident. The two women were identified as a 30-year-old San Bernardino resident and a 23-year-old Fontana resident. Both suffered “major injuries,” according to a CHP Report.
The man who was killed was reported to be standing on the 101 Freeway outside a 2008 silver Toyota Scion when 31-year-old Robert Graves hit it from behind. According to the report, Graves had been driving under the influence of alcohol.
According to authorities, Graves—a Reseda resident—sustained minor injuries in the crash. It occurred at the Balboa Boulevard exit on the westbound side of the freeway.
The CHP was alerted of the crash just before 4:15 a.m.
Driving a Toyota 4Runner, Graves did not see that Scion that was stopped in a traffic lane the statement says.
The man from Chino and the Scion were hit by the SUV. CHP Officer Patrick Kimball said officials reported that the deceased was pushed under the 4Runner
Graves was signed in on the suspicion of driving under the influence.
