A deer crossing Route 24 in Harford County in Baltimore caused an accident that seriously hurt a man. He was sent to a regional trauma center. The accident has been called a freak accident.
The deer hit a motorcyclist near Grier Nursery Road in Forest Hill. James Fisher, 45 years old, was sent by Maryland State Police Medevac helicopter to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center.
He was riding south on Route 24 when the deer appeared and hit him, which caused the bike to overturn. Officials stated that Fisher was in grave condition when he was rushed to the hospital. The spokeswoman at the hospital stated that he was in critical condition today.
When officials looked to investigate the crash afterwards, they found that the motorcyclist seemed to have gone normally and was not riding erratically at the time of the crash. The deer had just run out for the cemetery area and smashed into him. They found it very odd that the deer had crossed the street during the middle of the day. Everyone lamented that the young man must have been intensely shocked by the strange situation. The deer only had a few feet, 10 to 12, to move from the cemetery into the road and it moved quite quickly.
