The bicyclist was riding on the far right side of the Balboa Avenue off-ramp heading southbound near Charger Way when he was first struck by a Ford Expedition. The impact ejected the driver further into the street where he was struck by two other vehicles in different lanes, ending crushed under the last one.
Rescue could not reach the accident on time. The bicyclist died on the scene next to pieces of a destroyed helmet he was wearing.
Balboa Avenue, where the bicyclist died has no bike specific lanes. Authorities are still investigating the cause of the accident to see who is at fault.
