Fiery Car Accident on Highway 18 in Victorville Leaves 2 Teens With Serious Injury
Victorville, CA (May 28, 2024) — Two teenagers were airlifted to trauma centers following a serious car accident on Highway 18 in Victorville on Tuesday night, May 28.
The accident occurred around 6:09 p.m. just before Stoddard Wells Road. According to the Victorville Police Department, a 2003 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor was traveling on the highway when it crossed the center median into opposing traffic lanes. The vehicle then struck several large boulders along the shoulder of the highway.
San Bernardino County Firefighters Were Quickly Able To Extinguish The Fire and Call In A Helicopter
The car, occupied by 17- and 18-year-old males, sustained major damage and caught fire. Responding firefighters quickly extinguished the flames and called for two helicopters to airlift the teens to out-of-area trauma centers.
Witnesses at the scene reported that the two young men were scheduled to graduate from Granite High School the following day. The conditions of the teens were not immediately available.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation as authorities look into the factors involved.
