A car crash Monday injured seven people, including four Los Angeles Police Officers.
The accident occurred around 8:45 a.m. The crash occurred in the 2900 block of N. Fletcher Drive in Glassell Park, the Los Angeles Fire Department said in an interview with CBS Los Angeles.
The four officers, who were subsequently injured in the crash, were responding to a backup call. The officers were in an unmarked Ford Crown Victoria when they where hit by an SUV.
“They were responding, initially we believe, with lights and sirens as they drove through the red light here, the collision occurred,” Lt. Andrew Smith said in an interview with CBS Los Angeles. Whether the lights and sirens were actually on is being investigated.
Two officers suffered only minor injuries. The other two offers were listed in serious condition after the accident. The three passengers in the SUV only suffered minor injuries. All seven are expected to make a full recovery. The names of the seven injured were not released.
No charges have been filed in the crash. The intersection of N. Fletcher Drive and San Fernando Road were closed for several hours as the accident was investigated.
