64-Year-Old Man Left Laying In the Road Way Dies in Hit-and-Run Collision
BAKERSFIELD, CA (May 31, 2025) — Manuel Rodriguez Chavez, a 64-year-old man was killed in a hit-and-run collision Saturday night in Bakersfield, according to the Bakersfield Police Department.
The fatal incident occurred around 10:27 p.m. on May 31 in the 200 block of East Brundage Lane. Officers arrived to find Chavez lying in the roadway with severe injuries. Despite life-saving efforts by paramedics, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Manuel Rodriguez Chavez May Have Been Walking Too Far Into The Street Than He Should Have Been
Investigators believe Chavez was walking in the roadway when he was struck by a westbound vehicle, whose driver fled without stopping to render aid.
The Kern County Coroner’s Office later identified him as Manuel Rodriguez Chavez, 64.
Authorities are urging anyone with information or who may have witnessed the crash to contact Bakersfield police at (661) 327-7111. The investigation remains ongoing.
