Student Crushed Between 2 SUV’s While Getting Out of School
LOS ANGELES, CA (June 5, 2025) – A tragic accident at Campbell Hall School in Studio City claimed the life of a 15-year-old boy on Wednesday afternoon. The incident occurred just after 3 p.m. in the school’s carpool line, where parents, siblings, and friends were picking up students.
According to officials, a student driver in a green Rivian SUV rear-ended another SUV as the teenager walked past, pinning him between the two vehicles. Authorities believe the teen was walking between cars and may have been heading toward his own vehicle.
The Teens Father, Waiting To Pick Him Up, Witnessed The Tragic Incident
The teen’s father, who had arrived to pick him up, witnessed the horrifying accident. Paramedics transported the boy to the hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries.
The crash also triggered a chain reaction, causing minor injuries to two other teenagers and three adults. Multiple vehicles in the pickup line were rear-ended just as students were getting inside to head home.
Investigators called the incident a tragic accident. Although conflicting accounts exist about why the Rivian SUV rear-ended the white SUV, authorities confirmed that the young driver did not act intentionally and will not face any repercussions.
Campbell Hall School in Studio City Cancels Classes The Next Day
Campbell Hall School canceled classes and finals on Thursday but kept the campus open for grieving students, parents, and teachers. From 10 a.m. to noon, the school invited individuals to gather, offering counselors and chaplains for support.
In response to the tragedy, the Los Angeles Fire Department in Studio City activated the Los Angeles Mayor’s Crisis Response Team to assist relatives and witnesses. The team is stationed at the school and the hospital, providing emotional support and recovery assistance.
“We called out the Mayor’s Crisis Response Team. That team is at the school right now and has also responded at the children’s hospital to assist with any needs there,” said LAFD Capt. Adam Van Gerpen.
The identity of the teenager has not been released. As the prestigious private school nears the end of its academic year, students reflected on the heartbreaking event, noting that Wednesday had been particularly busy with finals and year-end activities.
