Major Traffic Disruption on 91 Freeway After Three-Vehicle Crash

LONG BEACH, CA  (May 21, 2025) — A multi-vehicle collision early Wednesday morning disrupted traffic on the eastbound Artesia (91) Freeway in Long Beach, just west of Downey Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

The crash occurred around 6:42 a.m. and involved three vehicles: a grey Toyota Tacoma pickup truck, a dark grey Tesla Model Y SUV, and a black Chevrolet Traverse. CHP officials reported that the Tacoma overturned onto its side, coming to rest in the fast lane and temporarily blocking traffic.

A 4 Month Old Baby Was Inside One of the Vehicles Involved In The Accident

Paramedics from the Long Beach Fire Department responded to the scene and checked on all occupants, including a 4-month-old baby who was riding in the Chevrolet Traverse. It remains unclear if anyone sustained injuries or required hospitalization.

CHP investigators are working to determine the cause of the crash and who may be at fault. Traffic was impacted during the morning commute as crews worked to clear the scene and restore normal flow on the freeway.
