Joshua Cardenas Arrested For DUI Hit-and-Run Crash That Killed Female Passenger
RIALTO, CA (February 21, 2025) – Rachel Martin, a 33-year-old woman was killed in a suspected DUI hit-and-run crash in Rialto on Friday evening, authorities said.
The fatal accident occurred around 8:17 p.m. on February 21 in the 500 block of West Merrill Avenue. According to the Rialto Police Department, 28-year-old Joshua Cardenas, of Rialto, was driving a white 2021 Ford Mustang at high speed when he lost control and crashed into multiple trees.

Cardenas allegedly fled the scene on foot, leaving his passenger, Rachel Martin, critically injured inside the vehicle.
First responders arrived to find Martin alone in the car with life-threatening injuries. Despite life-saving efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities later located Cardenas, who sustained only minor injuries in the crash. He was arrested and booked into San Bernardino County Jail on charges of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. His bail was set at $100,000.
