One Dead, Multiple Injured in Multi-Vehicle Crash on 405 Fwy in Costa Mesa
COSTA MESA, CA (November 19, 2024) – A multi-vehicle crash late Tuesday night on the 405 Freeway near Harbor Boulevard claimed the life of a man and left several others injured, according to authorities.
The collision occurred around 11:40 p.m. in the southbound lanes of the freeway. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that seven to eight vehicles were involved in the crash under circumstances that remain unclear.
One Male Victim, In His 50’s, Was Pronounced Dead At The Scene
A male victim, believed to be in his 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet determined if he was a driver or a passenger, and his identity has not been released.
Nine others sustained injuries in the crash. Five of the injured were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment, but the extent of their injuries has not been disclosed.
The southbound lanes of the 405 Freeway were closed for several hours as emergency crews and investigators worked at the scene.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
