Driver Dies in 2-Car Accident in Long Beach
Long Beach, CA (February 22, 2024) – Rodger Watkins, aged 60, tragically lost his life in a two-car accident at the intersection of Atlantic Avenue and Anaheim Street, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner. The incident, which occurred on Tuesday night, involved a northbound 2012 Lexus IS250 and an eastbound 2012 Ford Focus.

Details surrounding the crash remain unclear. However, reports indicate that the Lexus broadsided the Ford at the intersection. The impact caused the Ford to collide with a traffic signal and an abandoned building, while the Lexus lost control and crashed into a bus bench.
Emergency services arrived at the scene promptly and transported the 31-year-old driver of the Lexus, a resident of Long Beach, to a nearby hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Sadly, Rodger Watkins, who was trapped in his Ford, succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
