Moreno Valley, CA (November 21, 2023) – In a tragic incident near the intersection of Cottonwood Avenue and Graham Street, 21-year-old Jose Rodas is facing charges of DUI and hit-and-run after colliding with a utility worker and leaving the scene. The victim, a 52-year-old Eastern Municipal Water District employee, suffered life-threatening injuries in the early morning accident that occurred around 3:20 a.m. last Friday.

According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, Rodas lost control of his vehicle under unclear circumstances, striking the utility worker who was actively engaged in duties near the intersection. Instead of remaining at the scene to provide assistance, Rodas fled, prompting patrol deputies to launch a search.
Shortly after the hit-and-run, law enforcement located Rodas, leading to his arrest. The victim, severely injured in the incident, was swiftly transported by paramedics to Riverside University Medical Center for urgent medical attention.

Jose Rodas, apparently uninjured in the collision, now faces charges related to driving under the influence and leaving the scene of the accident. He has been booked into the Robert Presley Jail pending further legal proceedings.
