Tustin, CA (October 10, 2023) – In the early hours of Monday, October 9, a devastating multi-vehicle accident unfolded on the 5 Freeway in Tustin, resulting in the loss of at least one life.
Accident Caused One Vehicle To Ignite on 5 Freeway near Jamboree Road
The fatal incident occurred at approximately 3:54 a.m., just south of Jamboree Road. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), a collision involving five vehicles transpired in the northbound lanes of the freeway, with the impact igniting one of the vehicles.
First responders swiftly arrived at the scene, confirming the presence of at least one fatality due to the severity of the collision. Unfortunately, details such as the victim’s name, age, and city of residence are not immediately available.
5 Freeway Had Multiple Lane Closures After The Crash
The fiery crash wreaked havoc on the freeway, affecting the first, second, third, and HOV lanes. Recognizing the gravity of the situation, CHP officials issued a SigAlert at 4:10 a.m., prompting the closure of all northbound lanes. Traffic was diverted off at Culver Drive in Irvine to facilitate emergency response efforts.
