Hit-and-run Suspect Arrested in Crash that Killed Cecilia Shu in Oceanside, CA
OCEANSIDE, CA (July 29, 2022) – Cecilia Shu was struck and killed in Oceanside last month, and the driver suspected of hit-and-run was arrested this week. The June 5 crash occurred on Benet Road at Leepish Drive.
The time was roughly 8:19 a.m., Oceanside Police said.
According to authorities, Shu was walking on the sidewalk, and a vehicle–described as a Honda SUV–went onto the sidewalk and struck her.
The driver fled the crash site.
Responders pronounced Shu deceased at the scene. She was 68 years old.
On Tuesday, July 26, police arrested Sean Richter–a resident of Oceanside, 34 years old–on suspicion of felony gross vehicular manslaughter and hit-and-run with death in the crash that killed Shu.
Investigators are continuing their work on the crash. If anyone has information about the incident, the person can call Clint Bussey, who is a Traffic Collision Investigator.
