El Cajon Man Walking on I-8 Dies after 3 Vehicles Hit Him
EL CAJON, CA (April 20, 2022) – Late at night on Monday in El Cajon, a man who was walking on I-8 died after three vehicles hit him. The April 18 crashes occurred on the westbound side of the freeway, near Route 67 and to the west of it.
The time was roughly 10:30 p.m., Travis Garrow said. Garrow is a public information officer with the California Highway Patrol.
For reasons that are not known, the man was walking in the lanes of traffic, reports say.
The first vehicle to hit the man was described as a Kia Optima. The driver was identified only as a resident of El Cajon, 36 years old. Her name is not known.
The second vehicle to hit the man was described as a Dodge Charger. Reports say the driver is a resident of Chula Vista, 28 years old. His name has also not been reported.
The third vehicle has not been described, nor has the third driver. The driver left the crash site and did not remain for authorities.
Responders found the man died at the crash site. His identity has not been disclosed.
Investigators are working on the incident. If anyone has information about the crash, the person can contact the California Highway Patrol.
