Garden Grove Crash on Woodbury Road Kills One, Injures One; DUI Suspect Arrested
GARDEN GROVE, CA (May 10, 2021) – Late at night on Saturday in Garden Grove, a crash involving a suspected DUI driver killed one person and injured another. The May 8 incident occurred on Woodbury Road close to Libby Lane.
The time was roughly 10:54 p.m., Garden Grove Police said.
A vehicle–described as a Toyota Camry–had been stopped for a red light on Woodbury Road. Another vehicle–described as a Nissan Titan–was traveling on Woodbury at a fast speed, according to police.
The Nissan smashed into the back end of the Toyota. The Toyota was sent into the intersection by the impact, and the Toyota hit two cars that were parked on the street.
The Toyota came to a stop in the middle of the roadway. The Nissan went out of the driver’s control, and it smashed into a wall nearby.
The person who had been driving the Nissan is alleged to have exited the vehicle and run from the scene. Authorities found the driver not far from the crash site.
Responders arrived and found the person who had been driving the Toyota died at the scene of the crash. He was identified as 27 years old. His name and city of residence have not been reported.
Responders transported a passenger who had been in the Toyota to UCI Medical Center. The types of injuries she suffered, and her current condition, are not known. She has not been identified in reports.
The person who had been driving the Nissan was arrested on suspicion of DUI. His identity, including name, age, and city of residence, has not been reported.
