Pedestrian on I-5 in Downtown San Diego is Struck and Killed
SAN DIEGO, CA (February 25, 2021) – On Wednesday night in San Diego, a pedestrian who was on I-5 was struck and killed. The February 24 incident occurred on the southbound side of the freeway, in the area of downtown close to the exit for Front Street.
The time was roughly 9:05 p.m., the California Highway Patrol said.
A person was on foot on I-5, for reasons that are not known. A vehicle–which has not been described–struck the person. It is not clear exactly where the pedestrian had been walking or standing when the crash occurred.
Responders arrived and pronounced the pedestrian deceased at the crash site. His name, age, and city of residence have not been reported.
The person who had been driving the vehicle has not been identified in reports. The vehicle has not been described.
Investigators are working to understand the circumstances of the crash. They are continuing their efforts to collect details and information.
