Man Struck and Killed in Moreno Valley Hit-and-run Crash

Moreno Valley, CA (February 19, 2021) – Late at night on Saturday in Moreno Valley, Jose Manuel Garcia was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver. The Riverside County coroner’s office identified Garcia as the victim in the crash.

The February 13 incident occurred in the area where Perris Boulevard and Fir Avenue intersect.

The time was shortly before midnight, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department said.

Garcia had been walking across Perris Boulevard, according to the Sheriff’s Department. A vehicle–described as a Pontiac Grand Am, white in color-which had been going at a fast speed, hit him.

The car briefly slowed after striking the pedestrian, and moved to the side of the road, authorities said. Another vehicle–described as a Scion XB, purple in color–was also reported to have pulled off to the side of the road.

Both cars left the incident site, authorities said.

Responders arrived to help, but Garcia died in the crash. He was a resident of Moreno Valley, 37 years old.

Investigators are searching for the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run crash, and the suspect driver, who has not been described. Investigators are continuing to collect information.
