Vehicle Erupts in Flames after Rear-ending Big Rig on State Route 52 in San Diego
SAN DIEGO, CA (January 14, 2021) – Early in the morning on Wednesday in San Diego, a vehicle rear-ended a big rig and erupted in flames. The January 13 crash occurred on State Route 52 near Santo Road in the area of Tierrasanta.
The time was roughly a little before 6:00 a.m., the California Highway Patrol said.
The SUV had been heading east on State Route 52 and, for reasons that are not known, struck the rear-end of a big rig. The SUV went off the roadway and erupted in flames, which burned vegetation in the area.
Responders arrived and transported the driver to the hospital. The types of injuries the person suffered, and current condition, are not known.
The driver’s identity, including name, age, gender, and city of residence, has not been reported.
The identity of the truck driver has also not been reported. Reports do not say if the truck’s driver was hurt in the incident.
Investigators are collecting information about the crash.
