Three Men Identified as People Killed in San Diego Co. Crashes
SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA (January 14, 2021) – The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office made public the identities of three people who were killed in crashes over the weekend. The January 13 announcement identified Jonathan Charbonnet, Julius Cunanan, and Matthew Huthmacher as the three men who died in two different crashes.
In the morning on Sunday, January 10, the first crash occurred. The time was a little before 9:30 a.m., reports say.
A motorcycle, which had been heading east on Otay Lake Road, struck the back end of a bicycle in the area of the 14100 block. The impact of the crash ejected the rider and the cyclist. Both people died at the crash site.
The bicyclist was identified as Julius Cunanan, a resident of Chula Vista, 40 years old.
The motorcyclist was identified as Jonathan Charbonnet, a resident of Chula Vista, 43 years old.
On the same day, nearly eight hours after, a motorcycle went out of the rider’s control on State Route 78 as he was heading west. In an area near State Route 79 and to the east of it, close to Slaughterhouse Road, the motorcycle and a car collided.
Matthew Huthmacher, who had been traveling on the motorcycle, died in the crash. He was a resident of Descanso, 51 years old.
Investigators are continuing their work on understanding the incidents.
