Series of Crashes Involving Hit-and-run Driver in Lancaster Kills One, Injures 4
LANCASTER, CA (November 27, 2020) – On Thursday night in Lancaster, a suspected hit-and-run driver was involved in a second crash as she was fleeing the first. The person driving the second vehicle that was struck was killed in the November 26 incident. The four occupants in the vehicle the suspect was driving were all injured.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said the first crash happened at the Sierra Highway and J Avenue intersection. The time was roughly 7:20 p.m.
One of the drivers involved in the first crash fled the scene. The vehicle that was struck–which has not been described–pursued the hit-and-run driver.
No details have been reported regarding the first collision. It is not known if anyone inside the first vehicle that was struck was injured.
As the suspect fled the initial crash site, she went through a light that was red where North 20th Street East and Avenue J-8 intersect, reports say. The suspect collided with a second vehicle, which has also not been described.
The second crash occurred at roughly 7:26 p.m.
The person who had been driving the second vehicle that the suspect is alleged to have struck was killed. The identity of the driver, including name, age, gender, and city of residence, has not been reported.
The four occupants in the vehicle the suspect had been driving were injured: the suspect driver and two people in the backseat suffered injuries that were described as minor.
The person who had been in the front passenger seat suffered major injuries to the head. Responders transported the patient to Holy Cross Medical Center. Reports say one of the patients was transported by airlift.
The suspect driver was identified as female; her name, age, and city of residence have not been reported.
The passengers traveling with her have not been identified.
The person or people traveling in the first vehicle that was struck have also not been identified.
