Vehicle Hits and Kills Bicyclist Near Piru on Highway 126
PIRU, CA (October 29, 2020) – Early in the morning on Tuesday near Piru, a bicyclist was struck and killed by a vehicle. The October 27 incident occurred on Highway 126 on the westbound side of the road.
The bicyclist may have been traveling in the highway’s westbound lanes, according to the California Highway Patrol, when he was struck by an SUV, described as a Nissan Sentra.
Responders arrived and pronounced the bicyclist deceased at the incident site. He was identified only as middle aged. His name and city of residence have not been reported.
Reports say the person driving the vehicle did not see the person on the bike in time. The driver remained at the crash site and cooperated with the investigation.
He was identified only as a resident of Palmdale, 49 years old. His name has not been reported. He suffered injuries in the crash that were described as minor.
Investigators are working on gathering additional details and information regarding the incident.
