Hit-and-run Driver Kills Pedestrian in Gramercy Park Area of Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES, CA (May 4, 2020) – Early in the morning on Friday, a pedestrian was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver in the neighborhood of Gramercy Park in South Los Angeles. The May 1 incident occurred where South Western Avenue and West 92nd Street intersect.

The time was roughly a little before 4:00 a.m., according to Sergeant Petersen of the Los Angeles Police Department.

Reports say the pedestrian had been crossing the street inside a crosswalk when a vehicle–which had been heading north on Western Avenue–hit him. A second vehicle was reported to have driven through the intersection at the time of the incident, also heading north.

The driver who hit the victim did not stop to help him, but fled the crash scene.

Responders arrived and pronounced the victim deceased at the incident site. He was identified only as 33 years old. His name and city of residence have not been reported.

Investigators are searching for both vehicles, and both drivers, who traveled through the intersection when the man was struck. The drivers and the vehicles have not been described.
