HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA (January 6, 2020) – Susan Palmer was killed in a crash involving a driver suspected of DUI in Huntington Beach. The January 1 incident occurred on Gothard Street near Center Avenue.
The time was roughly 9:25 p.m., according to Huntington Beach Police.
Reports say a driver—identified as 17 years old—had been heading north on Gothard in a Nissan, and went into the lanes of opposing traffic. The Nissan collided head on with a Kia Soul, in which Palmer had been a passenger.
Responders arrived and transported Palmer to a hospital, where she was pronounced deceased. She was 61 years old.
Responders transported the Nissan’s driver to a hospital. He is reported to have suffered injuries that were described as minor. According to reports, he could face charges of felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter. His name has not been reported.
No details have been reported on the other people traveling in the Kia or the other person traveling in the Nissan. It is not known if any other people were hurt in the incident. The identities of the other people have not been reported.
