Vehicle Smashes into Tree and Fire Hydrant on El Norte Parkway in Escondido; One Person Dies
ESCONDIDO, CA (December 11, 2019) – On Monday night in Escondido, a vehicle crashed into a tree and a fire hydrant, killing one person. The December 9 incident occurred near Fig Street, on El Norte Parkway.
The time was roughly 7:50 p.m., Scott Walters said. Walters is a lieutenant with the Escondido Police.
Reports say a vehicle—described as a Corvette—went out of the driver’s control, for reasons that are not known, and smashed into a tree and a fire hydrant. According to reports, people who witnessed the incident said the Corvette had been going at a fast speed prior to crashing.
Responders arrived and transported the driver and a passenger to the hospital. The passenger died from his injuries in the hospital. His identity, including name, age, and city of residence, has not been reported.
