Two Sequential Crashes on State Route 76 Near Bonsall Kill Two Motorcyclists
BONSALL, CA (October 22, 2019) – Early in the evening on Saturday, two sequential crashes on State Route 76 near Bonsall involving motorcycles killed two riders. The October 19 incidents occurred within minutes of each other.
The first incident occurred where Sweetgrass Lane crosses State Route 76. The time was roughly 6:15 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
Reports say a vehicle—described as a Chevrolet Silverado, towing a horse trailer—had been traveling on Sweetgrass Lane and heading south. The Chevrolet traveled into the intersection with State Route 76, and as it attempted to make a turn to the left, a motorcycle—described as a Harley Davidson—which had been heading west on State Route 76, collided with it.
Responders arrived and transported the rider to Palomar Medical Center located in Escondido. According the reports, the victim died en route. The motorcyclist was identified only as a man 43 years old and a resident of San Bernardino. His name has not been reported.
The driver of the Chevrolet was identified only as a woman 24 years old and a resident of Hemet. It is not clear from reports if she suffered any injury. Her name has not been reported.
Report say two people, who had been passengers in the Chevrolet, were not hurt in the incident. Their identities have not been reported.
Several minutes later, in the area of State Route 76 and Interstate 15, a second collision occurred. The second incident occurred at roughly 6:21 p.m.
Reports say two vehicles—described as a Harley Davidson and a Honda Pilot—collided. Reports say the person who was driving the Honda attempted to turn left to I-15, and collided with the motorcycle.
The impact threw the motorcyclist driving the bike, and a passenger, to the ground. Responders arrived an prononced the motorcyclist deceased. His identity, including name, age, and city of residence, has not been reported.
Responders transported the passenger to Palomar Medical Center. The types of injuries she suffered, and her current condition, are not known. She was identified only as 43 years old. Her name and city of residence have not been reported.
The person who had been driving the Honda was not hurt, according to reports. He was identified only as a juvenile. His name, age, and city of residence have not been reported.
Reports say two people who had been riding as passengers in the Honda were also not hurt. The identities of the two people have not been reported.
