Two people were injured in an accident in Irvine in the night on Friday.
Authorities stated that two people sustained broken bones and that a third was hurt in an unspecified manner. All three were taken to local area hospitals.
The Irvine Police Department said the call about the accident came in around 10:18 p.m. Friday. The crash at the intersection of West Yale Loop and Stone Creek North happened outside of a house party. Two vehicles crashed, but it is unclear if the driver targeted the victims and if this was about a dispute or some other matter that occurred during the house party. Police in Irvine are going to investigate whether or not this was a criminal intent case of an accident or just a pure traffic collision.
The suspect was taken into custody for questioning the monitoring. His name was not released to the public or the media.
Police have stated that he is suspected of having been under the influence of a substance whether that may be drugs or alcohol. They did not have any other information regarding the collision and victims at this time.
The house party was not shut down or investigated by police, but many neighbors and party-goers heard and witnessed the accident. It was clearly a bad start to an exciting summer weekend for the young crowd in Irvine.
No traffic or street closures were necessary as the accident was easily and quickly cleaned up and the vehicles towed away from the scene of the accident.
The conditions of those injured are unknown at this time, but authorities said that no one had life-threatening or serious, critical injuries stemming from the accident.
