Five People Injured in Crash Involving Charter Bus on 118 Freeway in Simi Valley
SIMI VALLEY, CA (September 4, 2019) – On Tuesday morning, a crash on the 118 Freeway involving a charter bus injured five people in Simi Valley. The September 3 incident occurred on the westbound side of the freeway, near Madera Drive and to the east of it.
The time was roughly 9:05 a.m., the California Highway Patrol said.
Reports say three vehicles, which have not been described, and the charter bus collided. The Ventura County Fire Department said three people who had been on the bus were hurt, and two other people who were in other vehicles were also hurt. It is not clear from reports which vehicles the two other people had been traveling when they were injured.
None of the people involved in the incident—including drivers and passengers—have been identified. The people who were hurt have not been identified. The California Highway Patrol said 33 minors and seven adults from Bakersfueld had been on the charter bus, and that the occupants were students.
No other details are currently known regarding the incident. It is not clear from reports what sequence of events contributed to the crash. Investigators are continuing to gather details and informaiton.
