Four People Identified in Modjeska Crash
ORANGE COUNTY, CA (July 9, 2019) – The four people who were killed in a head-on collision near Modjeska Canyon involving two motorcycles on Sunday were identified by the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. They were Regina Michelle Crowder, a resident of Fountain Valley 48 years of age; Jon Michael Schwarz, a resident of Tustin 50 years of age; David Mark Terman, a resident of Santa Ana 59 years of age; and Edith Mae Hegy, a resident of Elko, Nevada 62 years of age.
The incident occurred in the vicinity of Modjeska Canyon Road and Santiago Canyon Road, the California Highway Patrol said. The time was roughly 4:30 p.m.
According to Florentino Olivera, who is an officer with the California Highway Patrol, a motorcycle—described as a Harley Davidson—which had been traveling north on Santiago Canyon Road attempted to pass another vehicle. The Harley entered the lane of opposing traffic, and collided with a Honda motorcycle that had been traveling south.
A rider and a passenger had been traveling on each of the motorcycles. The force of the crash threw the victims some distance, and one victim—identified as a woman—went into a ravine.
The motorcycle on which each victim had been traveling has not yet been reported. Investigators are continuing their effort to understand the circumstances of the incident.
