Woman Identified as Victim Killed in South Los Angeles Crash Involving Suspected Street Racers
LOS ANGELES, CA (May 13, 2019) – Bethany Holguin was identified by authorities as the victim who was killed in a hit-and-run collision involving suspected street racers in South Los Angeles. The May 12 incident occurred in the Willowbrook neighborhood, on 131st in the 300 block.
The time was roughly 10:33 p.m.
Holguin had been in a vehicle heading southbound on Town Avenue and a vehicle that had been traveling at a high rate of speed smashed into her in the intersection with 131st Street. The California Highway Patrol said surveillance video recorded the crash.
Holguin died at the accident site. She was 23 years old and a residence of Compton. Another person who had been in Holguin’s vehicle, identified only as a man, suffered injuries that were major, according to the California Highway Patrol. The man’s current condition is not known.
The vehicle that smashed into Holguin’s vehicle is believed to have been racing another vehicle. According to investigators, the other vehicle may be a Honda, red in color. The people who had been traveling in the vehicle that smashed into Holguin’s vehicle left the accident site. According to officials, the suspects may have entered the red vehicle to flee the scene.
Investigators are looking for the people suspected of street racing, including those who were in the vehicle suspected in the hit-and-run crash. No other details are available at this time.
