Collision in Fountain Valley Leads to Arrest for Teen Driver on Suspicion of DUI

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, CA (April 8, 2019) – A collision late at night on Friday in Fountain Valley led to the arrest of a teen driver on suspicion of DUI. The April 5 accident occurred in the area of Edinger Avenue and Harbor Boulevard.

The time was roughly a little before midnight, police said.

Reports say a vehicle—described as a Chevy, white in color—had been heading south on Harbor when it hit a pole. Six occupants of the vehicle suffered injuries that were described as minor. Respondents took the victims to a hospital in the area. According to police, the condition of the victims is stable. The victims’ injuries were characterized as not life threatening. The victims have only been identified as adults. Their names, ages, gender, and cities of residence have not been reported.

The driver—identified as Alex Nieves, 18 years old and a resident of Santa Ana—was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

According to reports, no other vehicle was involved in the collision. Investigators are looking into the details and information. No other details have been reported at this time.
