Man Killed in Collision in Woodland Hills
WOODLAND HILLS, CA (April 1, 2019) – Edgar Rolando Pinedo was killed in a collision on Friday night in Woodland Hills. The March 29 accident occurred where Winnetka Avenue and Ventura Boulevard intersect.
The time was 10:00 p.m.
Reports say that Pinedo had been driving a pickup truck and was making a turn to the left when his vehicle was hit by a Mercedes-Benz that was traveling at a high rate of speed and failed to stop at a red light. The Mercedes smashed into the driver side of the pickup truck—described as a Toyota Tacoma—according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Pinedo was killed at the accident site, according to Rudy Molano. Molano is an investigator with the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. Pinedo was 51 years old and a resident of Panorama City.
After the first collision, the Mercedes then hit two other vehicles—described as SUVs. According to officials, one person who had been traveling in one of the vehicles that had been hit suffered injuries that were described as minor.
The people who had been traveling in the Mercedes were taken to a hospital. The driver of the Mercedes was identified as a boy 17 years old. The types of injuries the two occupants of the Mercedes suffered are not known.
Witnesses reported seeing the person in the Mercedes had been driving in an erratic manner for a few blocks before the fatal collision. The teen driver was arrested on suspicion of murder, reports say. No other details have been reported on the identities of all the people involved in the collisions, including their names, ages, and cities of residence. It is not known from reports what types of injuries victims suffered, or their current condition. Investigators are continuing to examine the details and information related to the crashes.
