Four People Injured in Fiery Crash in El Cajon; Vehicle Erupts in Flames
EL CAJON, CA (March 26, 2019) – Four victims were injured in a crash Monday night in El Cajon when the vehicle they were traveling in overturned and erupted in flames. The impact of the March 25 crash, which occurred on Avocado Avenue in the 1500 block, threw the four people from the vehicle.
The time was roughly 9:15 p.m.
The vehicle—described as a Toyota minivan—had hit an embankment and rolled over a number of times, according to Stephen Kirk. Kirk is a lieutenant with the El Cajon Police Department. When respondents arrived, the vehicle was on fire. Four people had been thrown from the minivan, and they were down on the road.
Reports say that the person who had been driving the vehicle had been heading north on Avocado Avenue, going fast. The vehicle went out of the driver’s control. The vehicle went off the road, smacked into the rock embankment, and rolled over multiple times. All four people were thrown from the vehicle.
The vehicle then erupted in flames, which spread and began burning a utility pole made of wood. According to Kirk, respondents from Heartland Fire and Rescue put both fires out quickly.
The identities of the people involved in the crash have not been reported, including their names, ages, gender, and cities of residence. Reports say the victims were mid-to-late teens, or in their early twenties. The identity of the driver has not been reported. The types of injuries suffered by the victims is not known, but according to reports, the injuries were serious. The current condition of the victims has not been reported.
