Anthony Salvato Dies in San Clemente Crash on I-5 Freeway
SAN CLEMENTE, CA (November 20, 2018) – Anthony Salvato died Monday morning in a crash that happened on the I-5 Freeway in San Clemente. The November 19 accident occurred on the southbound side of the freeway, to the south of Avenida Palizada.
The time was roughly 6:00 a.m.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Salvato had been driving an SUV at the time of the accident. The SUV and another vehicle—described as a Ford Fusion—collided, and the SUV went out of control.
The SUV overturned, and Salvato, who investigators think may not have been using a seat belt, was thrown from the vehicle. The SUV, described as a Toyota 4Runner, came to rest on its roof.
Respondents pronounced Salvato deceased at the accident scene. He was a 22-year-old resident of Oceanside, Kelly Keyes said. Keyes is an investigator with the Orange County Coroner.
The person who had been driving the car—identified as a woman 23 years old and a resident of Carlsbad—was not hurt. She cooperated with the investigation.
Reports say that no one else was involved in the accident.
Investigators are looking into the details and information regarding the collision to find out what caused it.
