Crash on Highway 99 Off-ramp in Bakersfield Kills Pablo Villareal Garcia
BAKERSFIELD, CA (November 1, 2018) – A crash on Monday in Bakersfield killed one person, and may have involved a drunk driver. The October 29 accident occurred on the off-ramp from Highway 99 northbound to Panama Lane, police said.
According to reports, a vehicle driven by Cristian Avalos, a 25 year old, collided with a vehicle, described as a sedan, white in color. The driver of the sedan—identified as Pablo Villareal Garcia, 28 years old, died at the accident scene. Responders took a passenger who had been traveling with Garcia to a local hospital. The passenger’s condition was described as critical, according to police. The identity of the passenger has not been reported.
Avalos suffered injuries that were described as minor. Police arrested him on suspicion of murder and drunk driving.
