Pedestrian Dies After Being Struck by Vehicle in Fullerton
FULLERTON, CA (August 15, 2018) – A pedestrian died after a car hit him in Fullerton Wednesday night. The accident happened on West Orangethorpe Avenue, in the 400 block, according to police.
According to an early report, a vehicle—described as a 2002 Buick LeSabre—was heading east on Orangethorpe. The car was close to Ray Avenue when it struck the man who was walking across the road. The report says the man was not walking in a crosswalk.
Officers found the victim at roughly 8:06 p.m., Sergeant Jon Radus with Fullerton Police said. The victim was a man, who may have been in his 50s. His injuries were described as significant. Officers found him lying in the number 1 lane of Orangethorpe on the eastbound side of the road.
Not long after he arrived at the hospital, he died. The identity of the victim was not yet released.
The driver, who was described as a woman 64 years old, stayed at the accident scene and cooperated with the investigation. Police said that it did not look like alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident.
Investigators are looking into the details.
