DESERT HOT SPRINGS, CA (July 25, 2018) – A woman crossing Palm Drive in Desert Hot Springs on foot was hit by a driver and killed Friday evening.
The accident happened at roughly 8:10 p.m. not far from Buena Vista Avenue.
According to police, a woman—described as 58 years old—was walking across the middle of Palm Drive when a vehicle hit her.
The driver was alleged to have been driving under the influence, also known as DUI.
Adrian Villalobos, who was described as either 24 or 25 years of age, was not able to stop in enough time to avoid hitting the victim, Sgt. Daud Chang said.
The woman, who was not yet identified in the report, died at the scene of the accident.
Police arrested Villalobos, who is a resident of Sky Valley, on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.
Investigators are continuing to examine the details and evidence relating to the accident.
